PAPATOETOE.
DEATH OP MISS A. GRAY. Among those who have passed away, from influenza, is Miss Anr : e Gray, fourth daughter of the late Mr William Gray, Massey Road, Mangere, who died on Sunday last at the residence of her brother, Mr Isaac Gray, of Papatoetoe, Miss Gray was well known in lawn tennis circles, hiving quite a remarkable record as a champion player. She was Auckland singles champion for many years, and also held this honour in the ladies' doubles, partnered with Miss Gwen Gorrie. She was the champion in competitions for New Zealand in 1912, since when she haa had an unbroken record; in New Zealand doubles she held the championship for ten years past, first with Miss Travers, of Wolliogton, as a partner, and later with Miss Baird, of Hawke's Bay. She was a life member of the West End Lawn Tennis Club, in Auckland, a thorough " sport," and was universally popular for ber quiet, genial disposition.
