PAPAKURA.
Among the local victims of the influenza epidemic is Mr W. N. Mcintosh a member of the Papakura Town Board. In Mr Mcintosh's case the complaint has developed into pneumonia and his condition on Wednesday was such that he was removed to the Auckland Hospital. A special meeting of the Papakura Town Board will be held on Monday next at 7.30 p.m. to consider the Works' Committee's report on the proposed water scheme and the improvement of the Great South Boad. Advice has been received of the death following wounds received in action on October 11th of Pte. Charles M. Wallis, son of Mr J. Wallis, of Papakura. The deceased soldier, who was 22 years of age, was born at Papakura and was educated at the Papakura public school. Upon leaving school he entered the New Zealand railway service. He departed with the 34th reinforcements Pte. Wallis was well-known in Papakura and the sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended to the bereaved family. Included in the list of new appointments of Justices of the Peace is Mr James Walker, of Papakura.
