TUAKAU.
The Secretary of the Tuakau Patriotic League desires to acknowledge with thanks the receipt from an anonymous donor of £2 towards the BedOross fund. A minor outbreak of fire occurred at the rear of Mr A. Mayall's shop last Friday morning. A number of residents in the vicinity with buckets of water fortunately quelled the outbreak before any damage was done. Great interest is being taken in connection with the forthcoming byelection to fill the vacancies on the Tuakau Town Board caused by the resignations of Messrs Dynes Fulton and J. H Craig. Nominations close to-morrow and polling is fixed for Wednesday of next week. Mr J. H. Craig has consented to be again nominated and Mr James Pirret, an ex-member of the Town Board, is also offering his services. Another announced candidate is Mr Fred Hyde and one or two others may also come forward.
