TUAKAU TOWN BOARD MR FULTON' RESIGNS The first ordinary monthly meeting of the newly elected Town Board was held last Tuesday, the members present being Messrs G. S. Lapwood, J. H. Craijf, W. J. Deeble, W. Barnaby, W. Gubb, and I) G. Geraghty, with the Clerk (Mr A. H. Tapper). In the absence of Mr Dynes Fulton, who had been present at a special meeting of the Board held previously whtin he accepted nomination and was appointed Chairman, Mr Craig was temporarily voted to the chair.

MB FCLTON's RESIGNATION

A letter was received from Mr Fulton resigning the chairmanship and his membership of the Board and pointing out that in view of the position (seventh place) he occupied at the election he did not consider that he was warranted in accepting the position of chairman. On the motion of Mr Lapwood, seconded by Mr Gubb, it was unanimously agreed to ask Mr Fulton to reconsider his decision and it was arranged to hold a special meeting next Tuesday to deal with his reply

BITTER PAY WANTED. A request received from the Board's employees for their scale of pay to be increased from Is 4£d per hour to Is 6d was referred to the Finance Committee. HARRISYILLE ROAD. In regard to a complaint made by Mr F. Hyde as to the state of Harrisville road it was resolved to reply that the same would receive attention as soon as possible. HOTEL DRAIXAGE. A fuither communication was received from the Public Health Department relative to the drainage of the Tuakau Hotel and it was resolved that the drainage be allowed as arranged between the Health Officer and the Board, the latter to permit pipes being laid under Liverpool Street and the Department to accept responsibility, in writing, in respect of the drainage running into the creek.

IAND PURCHASE OFFER. In the matter of an offer by Mrs F. Nolan to sell to the Board the land in Harrisville road at present leased to the Board as a grazing paddock for the Board's horses it was resolved that the offer of purchase could not be entertained but that the Board would be willing to accept an extention of the lease, COMMITTEES. Messrs Oraig, Barnaby and Goraghty were appointed as the Works Committee and Messrs Craig, Gubb and Deeble as the Finance Committee.
