Driver Dewar left New Zealand frith the ?th Beinforcements and has been on active service for over three years. He is one of a family of four sons who are doing their little bit to uphold thetraditions of the Empire to which we belong Another son is Sergt Cwen B. Dewar who departed with the 9th Beinforeements. For conspicuous gallantry during the Messines battle he was awarded the Military Medal He is now at Oxford sitting for his commission. He volunteered when only 18 years and has seen three years service. Sergt. Bert Dewar is serving with the Australian Forces, while Sefgt. " Beg " Dewar is lecturing in the Army Medical School at Washington city. He is all X-ray expert. This is a family record that any family can justly feel proud of. Of foul 1 sons they are all serving their country. At , the special meating of the Papakura Toita Board held last Tuesday, the newly appointed Chairman (Mr E. D. McLennan) took advantage of the occasion to briefly refer to the recent success of the Allied Armies on the battlefields and suggested that the Board should take steps to endeavour to get the local ministers of the varions congregations to hold a united service to render thanks to Almighty God for his mercies in guiding the Allied armies to victory. Other members spoke in a similar sense, and it was decided to invite the ministers of Papakura to hold a thanksgiving service at an early date. A Committee consisting of the chairman and Messrs Jones and Evans was set up to make arrangements, Mr Evans stating that the Methodist Hall could be obtained free of cost for the occasion.
