County Council Elections.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln reading the leading article in your last issue relative to the suggested change of dates of County Council and Town Board elections I was somewhat surprised that you did not call attention to another defect in the law as regards Gounty Oounoils, which to my mind constitutes a glaring anomaly. I refer to the fact thatronly ratepayers are eligible to vote at County Council elections. the property owner has a voice in voting for a County Councillor is a mystery I am unable to solve. I would ask why are Ckocty Councils |gch exwith money; i.e., the owner perty, has a say in their and is 4ttble for election thereto. In cititaema boroughs the rank and file, namely all persons over 21 years of agje ot British nationalityi are qualififd to the same franchise applies t0 the election of members of Parliament, the latter body surely being of much mor*N* importance than a County * Is it not time that County Councils should be brought into line with other local authorities and the many rather than the few be qualified to vote at elections and to Jfjjjr for membership of the samyr—la®**
