Oil Tuesday last the Mauugata-whiri-I'okeno branch of tho Union held a concert and danco in the Maungatawhiri liall, when a very enjoyable time was spent.
Owing to motor troubles tlio concert did not .'■tart until after nine o'clock, but while waiting for the artistes to arrive Mr S. OldlieM (Organising Secretary) gavo an addre.-s and touched on r./.Tins why tho farmers should unite. Mr Oldticld received a very good h<anng and at the close of his address he was accordoil a vote of thanks. The muM»*al prog-re. ramo was then proceeded with, items being rondored by Mrs Tloadlev Mr Ernest Drake < tenor), Miss Clarice Wood (pianist), arid Mr Alan McElvvain humorist), assisted by Mis Vaughan, of Pokeim. Supper and diiucing followed.
