PAPAKURA.
Thoro is every probability that owing to the objections lodged to the proposed extension of the boundaries of the Papakura Town District the enlargement of the area will not be able to be brought into operation to allow of the same being concerned in the furthcoming biennial Town Board election. For the same reason the poll of ratepayers that it was intentended should be taken in conjunctly with tin Town B >ard election, in order to minimise the expense that would be necesitated by a substcjiient poll, on the projected loaus for instituting u water supply and f »r rial improvements is also likely to be delayed.
In the Papakura sub-dihtrict Queen Carnival competition, the victory of Clevedon's Queeu is imminent, the other Queens in the contest being these of Papakura, Manurewa and Alfriston. The crowning of the fiucrossful candidate will take place shortly at Papakura. Farmers and others are reminded of the annual meeting of the Papakura branch of the Farmets' to be he'd at Richardson's Papakura on Saturday, August 17th at 2 pin. Mr SOldlNd, the Orga-ni-ing Secretary of the Franklin Sub Provincial district, is to give an address and a large attendaace is anticipated. The Papakura Town Board will hold their usual monthly meeting on Monday next at 10 a.m.
