MANUREWA.
RED CROSS BAZAAR A very successful bazaar was held in the Town Hall, Manurewa, in , connection with the Manurewa Queen Carnival on Saturday last. Karly in the morning busy pirtiftß were at work getting »,heir respective stalls in order and at 2 30 p.m. the bazaar was officially declared open by Mrs E R N Russell in the presence of a very large attendance. The following were the Stall Hoi-. ders, viz , Produce: Mesdames G Coxhead, Palmer and Brown and Miss Easton ; Fancy Work : Misses A. Coxhead, M Smith, and E Eccles; Sweets: Mioseso Perry, BSmith, D Warlish and M Juckes; Afternoon Tea : Mesdames Thompson and Gallagher assisted by many young ladies; Plain Sewing: Mesdames C R Bailey, C Coxhead and Fiudlay; Jumble Stall: MeodamesT J Corin and Perry; Flowers: Misses I) Field, L Mclntyre and L Lupton; Bran Tub: Mrs W Phillips; Fortunes: Mrs Whittingham; Surprise Packets : Mrs Mellor Mrs Lucas; Competitions : Mrs Tidd, and Mr Hawthorn acted as doorkeeper. Great interest was centred in a baby show, for which Mrs Russell acted a* judge, first prizes being awarded to Mesdames Peacock's McKeuzie's and Dreadon's infants. Selling was very brisk both afternoon and evening, and the bazaar wound up with over £IOO to its credit.
It is gratifying to record that owing ro the persistent efforts of Mr Enos Peglar to have a Post Office building erected at Manurewa be has now received a letter from Sir Frederick Lang M.P., enclosing a communication from the Acting Postmaster General stating that action was being taken to erect a suitable building.
