ARDMORE.
Tn the interests of the Clevedon Qneen Carnival Fund, a school concert and dance took place on Tuesday evening last in the Public Hall, Ardniore. when there was a good attendance. The hall was prettily decorated for tlit 1 occasion. Mr. W. Bell creditably carried out the duties of M.C., and music was supplied by the Misses Wright and M. Dow, whilst Mr. J. Wright acted as secretary. During the evening opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mr. Kent, of Ardmore, who shortly leaves for camp. Mr. W. Bell, on l>ehalf of Ardmore friends, made a presentation to him, and wished him God speed and a safe return. Dancing was freely indulged in until the early hours of the mornihg. Supper was provided, and altogether a pleasant evening was spent. It should he added that among others l>i.s«iit at the function was the Clevednii Carnival Queen, Miss E. Dow. PAPAKURA. I'uder the chairmanship of Mr. R. Srohir. a well-attended meeting of dairy suppliers and farmers, convened by the Waikato Co-operative Dairy Company. Limited, was held in the Mitbodi-f Hall. Papakura, on Friday • vetiiii'.' last. An address on the operations of the Company during the pn.«t year and on the prospects for the ■ online: season was delivered by Mr. W. Gnodfellow (Managing Director of the Company), special reference being made to the proposed manufacture of dried milk powdt r. Interesting information relatintr to the intentions of the Company to erect suitable factories for the manufacture of dried milk powder was civen by Mr. Good fellow. \vho outlined a scheme to be followed where the suppliers in any district desired to erect a factory for the purpose. Mr. J. Clark, a Director of the ('• mpiny, also delivered a stirring mliln--? on the milk supply question, and iiiL'ed all to uphold the principles of co-operation. Both addresses were attentively listened to, and at the (lose questions, were asked and satisfactorily replied to. Mr T. 0. Seaton, the local popular ba-itone vocalist, left Auckland by ho it last night to take pait in the Gisborne Orpheus Club's annual concert to be held next Thursday. Tin extent of the monetary inducement offered to Mr Seaton to secure his services at Gisborne would be surprising to the musical fraternity of P-tpakura and the fact that hi honorary assistance has always bepn i vailable at Papakura for patriotic gatherings affords testimony to his loyalty to the district and no lit'le self-denial.
