TUAKAU.
A deputation from the Tuakau Town Board, consisting of Messrs. Dynes, Fulton. Pirrct. Barnaby, and Craig, waited on the Minister for Education (the Hon. J. A. Hanan, M.P.) in Auckland on Wednesday, and renewed the Town Board's objection to the site on Mr. J. Glasgow's property, on the Tuakau-Buckland Road, selected by the -Education Board for the erection of the new side school to overcome the congestion now existing at the present school at Tuakau. The suggestion made by the deputation was that a site belonging to Mr. Glasgow, on the Tuakau-Tuakau South Road, would be preferable. It was also claimed by Mr. Fulton that the site chosen by the Education Board was not large enough in view of the fact that many of the pupils rode to school, and had to have a paddock in which to put their horses. the Minister pointed out that the Board had certain powers in this connection, and that until proposals were submitted to him he could not take the initiative. The Board had recommended the purchase of the present site, to which objection was being made, and the recommendation had also received the approval of the senior inspector. The sum of money involved was such that the matter had to go before Cabinet, and they had approved of a grant. If the deputation had any further points to bring forward, they should be made to the Education Board.
