PATUMAHOE.
"Soft Drink" writes from Patumahoe as follows:—In perusing a bold effusion in your paper of a recent issue, signed " Patumahoe Farmer," I thought it would be as well to enlighten the multitudes as to "where Patumahoe is." To begin with, Patumahoe—that hub of the universe—is a very small place in the centre of the great Mauku district, which is renowned far and wide. Patumahoe was a place of some note in the ages ago, and at oHe time it possessed a "Mayor," but, alas! it now possesses neither a Mayor nor Councillor. True, it still can boast of a few buildings, such as a post office, store, etc., but its creamery is now closed, and in its last spasmodic effort to keep alive, it is changing the name of the hotel from "Mauku" to "Patumahoe." As to the idea of establishing a dried milk factory near the station, well, it is only one of many dreams.
