HUNUA.
SUDDEN DEATH
The death occurred somewhat suddenly last Thursday morning of Mr. Charles McLeish, who about twelve months ago purchased a farm of 200 acres at Hunua. Deceased, who had been in indifferent health for some time past, and whose home was in Thames, was well known throughout the Waikato. He was in the habit of making periodical journeys to his farm, and whilst staying with Mr. P. Martin at Hunua last week he became ill, and passed away on Thursday morning.
At an inquest held on Friday by the District Coroner (Mr. Cecil Roadley) Dr. Brookfield. of Papakura. gave it as his opinion that death was caused by tonsilitis and gastritis. He mentioned that he had been called in t<> see the deceased, and prescribed for him, but deceased refused to take the medicine sent him. He was not, however, again sent tor. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned, the Coroner commenting on the importance of relying on skilled knowledge, which in that instance, if taken advantage of, would probably have averted death.
