[SILVER WEDDING CELEBRATION. A very enjoyable evening was held by the settlors of Ponga in honour of IVTr am! Mrs William Piatt on June 7th in celebration of their silver wedding Mr and Mrs I'latt were married in Drury and caim ti) tln-ir home in Ponga, where they have reside 1 fur a number of years. The evening took the form of a surprise party an 1 the following were present: Mrs .T. Priestley, Mr and Mrs John Reid, Mr and Mrs M. Hughes, Mr and Mrs W J Parker, Mr and Mis Brown, Mr F Brown, Mrs MauuotH, Mr and Mrs H. Whitford, Mr G. Whitford, MissM. Parker, Mr (). Parker and Master A. Liver. The company were entertained with phonograph selections and Mr J. Reid con'ribntfd several violin solos. After supper hid beim served Mrs J. Reid, on behalf of the Ponga settlers, presented Mrs Piatt with a handsome silver tea pot. Mr Parker spoke of how Mr and Mis Piatt had prospered by both pulling so well toother. They had, he said, reared for New Zealand a fine strong, industrious family of three s«>ns and three- daughters. The proceedings were brought to a close by the company -singing " For They are Jolly Good Fellows, ' •' Auld Lang Syne and 11 God Save the King "
