MANUREWA
MANUREWA QUEEN CARNIVAL. A laigely attended meeting in furtherance of the Manurewa Queen Carnival was held in the PubKc Kail on Friday last. Miss Annie Coxhead, daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Coxhead, was elected " Queen " for the district amid loud npplause. Sub-committees were formed to canv iss for donations, etc. The Executive are as follows: Mesdames G. Coxhead and Muir, Messrs G. Smith, Muir and T. J. Coriu, Mr Corin was appointed to the position of Chairman, Mrs Muir Treasurer and Mr Kay Secretary. The opening ceremony is to take place in the Public Hall next Monday. It has been arranged that some sort c>f function will take place such as hard-up socials, Red Cross suppers and teas, balls and bazaars, in each week of the Carnival and it is hoped that every effort will be made to place the Manurewa Queen in a leading position. Tho opening of the Queen Carnival in Manurewa will take the form of a grand plain and fancy dress ball to be held in the Manurewa Hall next Monday.
