FISK JUBILEE SINGERS

After a long absence the Fisk Jubilee Singers will make a welcome re-appearance at Pukekohe in the Premier Hall next Thursday evening when they will present one of their unique entertainments. Since their last appearance in New Zealand the company has been considerably i strengthened. Some of the remaining members of the original company ; are Prof. White, (who is also musical director of the combination) and Miss Belle Gibbons, (the only lady baritone in the world). The company consists in addition to the two mentioned artists of: Miss Leila Nyburd, (Soprano), Miss Bertha Millar, (Bagtime Special Artist), Miss Clare Solly, (Contralto), and Messrs Sid Raynes, (Tenor), Les Belcher, (Lyric Tenor), Harold Wilson (Basso) and Marshall Palmer (Baritone), The combination is particularly strong in its rendition of negro melodies, and solo numbers w'll be followed by rollicking plantation songs. It is stated nothing of the delicacy of treatment and ke6n sense of harmony, which originally charmed andiences with the first band of Jubilee Singers, has been lost. The Box Plan is now open at the Bookery.
