PAPAKURA.
As a sequel to the appointment of Mr Harold Wilson as an Inspector under the Noxious Weeds Act owners in Papakura are to be called on to remove the noxious weeds growing not only on their private properties but on the adjoining road frontages. The movement is directed towards remedying the mridy appearance of the township caused through the spread of gorse and other noxious weeds. To Conctab'e Johnston, if Papakura, lies the credit of having effected the capture of Thomas Christe, who escaped from the Avondale Mental Hospital last Saturlay night. On Wednesday morning last Constable Johnston received a telephone im ssage from a local resident to the I'llect that, a man answering to Christie's description was walking along lirai-li Road. Constable Johnston promptly sot out in search and duly came upon the fugitive, who admitted hi-! identity and was conveyHLarlc to Auckland He stated that ii" had walked through to Papakura from the city.
