DRURY

THE VALUATION ANOMALY. AN EFFECTIVE PROTEST. The matter of the unfair position created by a portion only of the Drury Riding, viz., the old Road Board District, having been revalued, as recently criticised in these columns, has now been satisfactorily settled

It will be remembered that a protest against such new valuation being brought into force, seeing that the other portions of the riding, viz , the old Opaheko and Paparata Road Districts had not been included in tho re-valuations, was entered by the Drury branch of the Farmers' Union. At a meeting of the Branch held last Saturday the following latter was read from Mr F. W. Flanagan, Valuer General, viz. : The Officer-in-charge of this Department at Auckland has forwarded to me the protest of the Drury branch of the Farmers' Union, against the recent revaluation of that part of the Druiy Riding of Franklin County, formerly known as Drury Road District, on the ground that the revaluation will impose on the ratepayers therein two-thirds of the whole taxation of Drury Riding. I have carefully considered the protest and have decided to proceed no further with the revaluation until the whole of the Drury Riding has been revalued. Meanwhile the existing late values will stand.
