ST. LUKE'S CHUECn 1 The annual meeting of Parishoners was held on Thursday evening, April 2'ith, after the special service for Anzac Day. The attendance was very good, and the report and balance sheet very encouraging. Starting with a debit balance of 8s 9d the year closed with £3 odd to credit. The outstanding feature was the marked activity of the last quarter, during which the church debt of £3O was paid off, and silver communion vessels were presented by the ladies. The church has just been painted, at a cost of £l3 odd and funds for this are in hand or promised. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year, viz. : Vicar's Church Warden, Mr Or. Smith; People's Church Warden, Mr C. Hawthorn ; Committee, Mesdames Brown, Kails and Mellors (Secretary and Treasurer), and Messrs Corin, Field, Kails, Rule arid Lupton. The Sunday school has made considerable progress, but there is room for still further improvement. The hearty thanks of the congregation areaccoided to all church workers during the past year.
On Sunday, May 12th, Bishop Averill will visit the district £o administer the Kite of Continuation in St. Luke's Church at 11 a.m for the combined congregations of Wiri and Manurowa. On the evening of Anzac Day the Rev P. Smalltield conducted a special service in St. Luke's Church and preached a most interesting and instructive sermon t<> a largo congregation. The offertory was given to the Red Cross Fund.
