Embling and the secretary (Mr H. Moody). Apology for absence was received from Mr D. A. Reid. a..member's resignation.
Mr W. T. Hall wrote resigning his membership of the Board and regretting his inability in not being present to thank the Chairman and members for the courtesy and good feeling that had been extended to him as a new member.
The resignation was accepted with regret and the Clerk was instructed to write a letter of appreciation to Mr W. T. Hall for services rendered, also wishing him every prosperity and success in his newly-acquired property in the North.
WAIROA RATEPAYERS MERGING. The Chairman handed in the Board's solicitor's opinion of the necessary procedure to be adopted with reference to the proposal for a portion of the Wairoa Road Board District to be merged into the Papakura Boad Board District. It was resolved that the Clerk write to the Wairoa Road Board asking that a joint Committee of both Boards be set up to confer and if possible to mutually agree as to boundaries, etc. PURIRI PARK. A letter was received from Mr Martin, Surveyor, stating that Hill Road in the Puriri Park Estate had been completed both as regards formation and metalling and asking the Board to view the work pass the same. The matter was referred to Messrs Trimble and Reid with power to act. WAR FUNDS. Lengthy correspondence, permit cards and copies of the Act were received from the Minister of Internal Affairs relating to the control of monies raised by Patriotic, Red Cross and other Societies and it was resolved that the Minister be asked to appoint Mr D. A. Reid, J. P., as the local official to issue permits. FINANCE. Accounts to the amount of £92 10s were passed for payment. The ladies of the local branch of the Red Cross League have again resumed active operations and recently opened the season with a splendid gathering at Mrs Fred Kimpton's, Brookby. It is pleasing to report that a goodly number of letters have been received expressing high appreciation of the parcels sent by the League to the " boys " at the Front. This of itself should prove an incentive to an increased and sustained effort to not get weary in well doing. It is to be regretted that Brookby is losing Mr and Mrs Fred Kimpton, whose help has been greatly appreciated, but the district's loss is Clevedon's gain, so the cause itself will not suffer. .
