CLEVEDON.
FARMERS'UNION MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Clevedon Branch of the Farmers' Union was held in the Public Hall, Clevedon, on the evening of Saturday, March 29th. The members present were Messrs C. A. Fawcett (in the chair), L. H. Burgoyne, C, C. Munro, P. C. M. Waters, H. J. Bull, J.Hancock, F. Stephens, W. T. Duder, J. Luke, W. Stephens, and J. A. Gandy (Secretary). The Agricultural Department wrote promisirig to attend to the matter of the increase of rabbits in the Ardmore disrrict. The Provincial Office wrote asking the branch to open a subscription list in aid of those suffering through the fires in the King Country, and it; was resolved to open subscription lists and to appoint those presentat the meeting as collectors.
A letter was received from the Provincial Office stating that in reply to their representations the Railway Department had decided to increase the stock facilities in the King Country and the Waikato, the trains for the present being timed as follows: Mercer, dep. 1.5 a.m, Pukekohe dep. 1.50 a.m, Drury dep. 2.20 a.m, Otahuhu arr. 3 a.m. Messrs C. C. Munro and the Secretary were appointed delegates to attend the Annual Conference which is to be held in Auckland about the end of May. 4 lt was resolved to hold the Branch annual meeting on the 13th April, and in order that those residing in the outlying districts might be present, it was decided to hold the meeting in the afternoon, to commence at 1.30 sharp.
