Aeiovement is on foot to hold 8 monster Sports Carnival in connection with the Boy Scouts movement. The function will take place in Mr J. Burton's paddock and a grand concert will follow in the Town Hall in the evening. June 4th is the date fixed for the event. A large number of visiting Scouts from Auckland City will be present, also brass and bugle bands.
A most successful Bed Cross afternoon was held on the local bowling green on Saturday, March 30th, when despite counter attractions there was a very fair gathering of .local residents. The various stalls were well laden and business during the afternooh was brisk. Proceedings were enlivened by selections played by the Boy Scouts Brass Banl who were in good form and acquitted themselves creditably. As a result of the gathering over £2O was raised towards the Bed Gross funds.
The final for the Bowling Club Championship Cup was played on Friday afternoon last when J. Watson defeated E. Coles by 23 points to 12. The Bowling season will close about the end of next month, but the committee are laying down four rinks for a winter green, which proved such a marked success last year.
