TAKANINI

RAILWAY FATALTTY A well-known resident of Weymouth, named Herman Johansen, aged 61, was killed on the railway at Takanini on Thursday evening of last week, [t appears that Mr Johansen was travelling home by train from Auckland and having been asleep suddenly woke up and found that the train had reached Manurewa, which is a station past Takanini. He attempted to alight whilst the train was in motion and in doing so fell under the train, several carriages passing over his body, death being instantaneous. An inquest was opened on Good Friday morning by the District Coroner (Mr Cecil Roadley) at the Globe Hotel, Papakura, and after identification of the body by Mr T. J. Corin, of Manurewa, the enquiry was adjourned until to-morrow,
