PAPAKURA. PAPAKURA ATHLETIC SPORTS A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING Papakura was favoured with fine weather on the occasion of the annual athletic sports held on the Railway Reserve on Easter Monday. Apart from a well-arranged programme of sports the presence of the Auckland Pipe Band as well as the Highland dancing competitions proved a great draw, while a baby show with 27 entries created a good deal of interest. Despite counter attractions the attendance of the public was encouraging and the committee, with Mr E. B. Cole as President and Mr L J. Mills, Secretary, are to be congratulated on providing such an enjoyable afteruon. To the tune of the bagpipes the dancing in all sections was of a very high standard. The judges of the dancing were Pipe Major Macdonald and Pipers Amor, Thomson and McLeod and they carried out their duties satisfactorily.
