Poultry fanciers and others may be interested to know that Mr George Scott, of Settlement road, has some good specimens of Houdan breed of fowls. The Houdan is of French origin and is a remarkably good layer, while the intermixture of black and white feathers and larjje crest give them a distinctly smart appearance. Cable news has been received that Private Len Ryan, Bon of Mr Joe Ryan, of the Papakura Hotel, has been seriously wounded. Another of Mr Ryan's son is an inmate of a hospital in England. A most enjoyablo picnic was held on Easter Monday by the combined Sunday schools of Christ Church, Papakura, and of St John's, Drury. The scnolars, teachers and friends assembled at the Rev 0. Wood) addressed a few words to the children, asking them to express their thanks to Mr and Mrs Hewlett for allowing the picnic to be neld in their grounds and for their assistance in making the outing so successful ; also to the teachers of the two schools who had carried out the arrangements admirably in every respect.
