PUKEKOHE EAST.

SOCIAL AND SALE OF WORK. Under the auspices of the Pukekohe East branch of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League a social and sale of work was held in the Public Hall, Pukekohe East, yesterday. In the unavoidable absence of Mrs Gunson (the Mayoress of Auckland), the opening ceremony was performed in the afternoon by the Rev. S. Nixon, who in a pleasant speech wished the undertaking every success.

With Mrs W. Robinson as President, supported by a strong working Committee and Mrs W. Holmes as Secretary, the ladias have devoted much time on behalf of '' Our Boys " and the evidence of some of their work was seen by the large assortment of goods shown on the various stalls. The following were the stallholders: Plain Needlework : Mrs Robinson seur, and Mrs T. Hamilton Produce : Mrs S. Hamilton. Lollies : Mrs W. Robinson. Fish Pond : The Misses N. Robinson and G. Smith. Refrethments : Mesdames Gannon and McCullum ; all of whom were assisted by a band of willing workers. During the evening various attractions were provided including vocal and musical items, guessing competitions, etc. At the latter part of the evening dancing was indulged in.
