ARARIMU
DWELLING HOUSE BURNT A disastrous fire occurred at Ararimu at about midday on Monday last by which a dwelling house owned by Mr Forbee, and occupied by Mr and Mrs McOabe was totally destroyed together with most of its contents, very little being saved. In addition to the house a fine heap of sawn timber, about 4000 feet, stacked close oy was also demolished but other heaps, not so much in the line of the fire, were saved with difficulty although some of them were more or less damaged. It is surmised that the blaze was started by sparks from a fern fire raging neafr at hand which were blown by the wind straight on to the dwelling. Mr McCabe was fortunately able to save the outbuildings thanks to the assistance of Mr Nobbs, his neaiest neighbour, who was promptly on the scene.
