Evidence of 1 yaltv and patriotism was shown by the Old Girls < f the Manurewa Public School on Saturday afternoon when a social and garden fete was hold in the school ground?, the object being to taise funds for a school Roll of Honour. Manurewa and the district gladly responded to the invitation to take part in the function. Tha proceedings having been opened by the singing of the National Anthem Mr F. Wliite (chairman of the School Committee; referred to the object of the gathering which was to provide an Honours Board to include the names of all those who as late scholars of the eohool hud given their services to the Empire in con neotion with the present war. .Secretary and treasurer, ali of whom are energetically working for the successful promotion of the scheme. Tea was served by the ladies during the afternoon and as a result of the function the sum of 17 12s unsecured.
