SPORTS' COMPETITORS IN TRAINING A correspondent has forwartied us the following "training" notes respecting candidates who are expected to take part in the married men's race at the Carnival Sports to-mor-row, viz:— Jack Williams is striding along nicely in his work under the guidance of J. Miller. In a spurt over a tennis net at Hellensville he outpaced all opposition. Fred Allen, of Cowtown, fresh from Trenworth Pumic victories, has a sporting chance. Ihe supporters of Fred Rowe, of Golf Avenue, consider nis prospects are second to none. He should start a hot favourite. Beecher Bullen, the Walmsley road candidate, has been noticed indulging in fast sprints to catch tlie 7 a.m. train. With the going any way sofi he will be hard to heat. Bert Jenkins, taking weight for age, should have a good chance Frank Keevy, always a fast beginner, should hit tiio front early and if he is not feeling the effects of previous races wid be a power to be reckoned with
Bill McManus, probably a back number, is likely to be suirtd with the sting out of the ground, but lie will probably fir.d the tas-k allotted to him too seveio
