TUAKAU SOWN BOARD ~*-A.t the ordinary monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board, held on Wednesday last, there were preseut Messrs Dynes Fulton (Chairman), W. J. Deeble, W. Glasgow, W. Barnaby, and Captain Ryder, with the Clerk (Mr A. 11. Tapper).
The Engineer reported that about £lO7 had been spent on Ryder's road, and on his recommendation the tender of Mr Denner for constructing six cesspits was accepted. The question of obtaining a further instalment of loan to enable the Board to more satisfactorily carry out improvement works was discussed and it was resolved that the Chairman should proceed to Wellington and interview the Public Trust Board with a view to securing a further loan if possible. The Chairman having reported that he had arranged with Mr I'urett to store the Board's pipes on his laud near the railway goods shed, his action was confirmed.
Accounts amounting to £28(1 were passed for payment. These included in respect of Loan Account W. A. Smeed (for metal crushing l £'.»•'«, pipes £.'il, and F. Dennor (contractor] £lo. At the Pukokohe Magistrate's C iurt last Thursday a young Maori, named Karanga was fined 10s and costs 7s for having entered the Tuakau hotel during the currency of his prohibition order. A charge agaimt a white man of having supplied a nativt> woman with intoxicating liquor was postponed for hearing until the next sitting of the Court.
