TUHIMATA
A very successful picnic promoted by the Tuhimata Creamery suppliers took place in Mr Tom Hamilton's bush (an ideal spot for such occasions) on January 16th. Practically the whole of the settlers with their wives and families, together with several friends, the party numbering considerably over one hundred, turned out in motor cars, buggies, traps and sulkies to take part in the happy gathering. The committee were early at work and everything pertaining to make the function a success seemed imminent Precisely at 12 o'clock the roll call for lunch found all seated under the bhady trees where full justice was done to a spread worthy of those assembled. Swings for the children, games in variety including dancing on the green, races for the ladi<-s, quoits, etc, were indulged in till all too soon the coppor was set going Tea being over and when all were tMnk ing of home th« committee decif't' that a social evening in " the barn " would be a fitting finish to a g- O'l day. This proved a very pleas* n' evening's enjoyment fur a large gathering of both young and old Excellent old tim« music wa9 p>oviled by local tabnt f he concertina. accor* eon, violin and piano ail being br >ught into requisition The evening being very warm a decided comfort was e.xper.enced when the M C. announced that by permission of the ladies, " coats off " would be granted for thn men. A hind-round supper supplimented by plenty of gool tea, wan much enjoyed by all present At midnight the signal for home was aunounced and all dispersed tired but loippy
