Wall, Runciman (mother). REPORTED WOUNDED. Sanderson, William, December 28— A. Sanderson, Papatoetoe (father). SLIGHTLY WOUNDED. (Remaining with Unit). Lauer, William (L.-Corpl), December 28 —F. K. Liner, Pukekohe (father). Private H. Hunter, reported killed in action on December 3rd, was a brother of Mr Jim Hunter, plumber, of Pukekohe. Private Hunter left New Zealand with the 28 th Reinforcements and is the third son of the family to make the • supreme sacrifice. The late Private Hunter was 21 years of age and has two brothers still with the colours in France. Cabled advice has been received this week by Mrs E Stayte, of Edinburgh Street, Pukekohe, notifying her that her son, Arthur Sydney, had been admitted to Walton-on-Thames Hospital on December 31st, suffering from a tubercular lung. By the last mail Mrs Stayte received word from " Syd" that he was under orders to proceed to England to embark for New Zealand, he having been " pronounced unfit for further service." Consequently the foregoing news was quite unexpected. Private Charles Roland Hill, who was killed in action on the 28th December last, was a farmer and was 32 years of age. He left the Dominion with the 26th Reinforcements. He will be remembered by many as an active member of the Papakura Presbyterian Bible Class, to which Church he was attached. Mr J. fl. Hill, blacksmith, of Papakura, is a brother of deceased and his mother lives at Opaheke Road, Papakura. Private E. V. Walker, who is reported to have been killed in action on January 3rd last, was a resident of Otahuhu and prior to his enlistment was a railway employee. He was attached to the Rifle Brigade. His mother resides at Otahuhu. Gunner Robert Rhoderich Crichton Corbett-McFarland, who is reported killed in action, was the eldest son of Mrs S. McFarland, of Epsom, and of the late Mr R. S. McFarland, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Ashburton. He left New Zealand with tho 13th Reinforcements and|was trained as a specialist at Sling Camp, England. At the time of his death he was attached to the loth Howitzer Battery, N.Z F A , serving in France. He died as the result of wounds received in action nn October 31st last. Three <.f his cousins, Corpl. T. Nigel McFarland, Corpl J). Ford and Norman Ford, "au of Auckland, fell iu action during tin same month. He also lost two cousins from Englaud, viz, Lieut. Arthur Corbett, youugest son of Lord Kowallan, and Flight-Lieut. Curran. The latter, it may be mentioned, received tho V.C. and Legion of Honour for bravery. A month before he fell Gunner CorbettMcFarland whilst on leave was staying with another cousin, Staff Captain R L Corbett, of Bournemouth, who will be remembered as an old Auckland boy. The deceased soldier was a nephew of Captain and Mrs Corbett-Scott, of the Manor* House, Epsom, Auckland, a grandson of the late Mr Robert Telfer Corbett, M.D., of Broofelands Estate, ( Tuakau, and a nephew of CaAon McFarland, late Vicar of Pukekone. His uncle, Captain J. Scott, was one of the brave defenders of the East Pukekohe Church during the Maori
