FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE BACON COMPANY

The first annual meeting of the Fanners Co-operative Bacon and Meat Packing Co. was held in Wellington on December 6th. The company commenced operations on Ist October, 1916, and was formed by the merging of interests of the South Taranaki Bacon Co., Ltd., the Waikato Farmers' Co-operative Bacon Co., Ltd., and Messrs W. Dimock & Co., Ltd., for the purpose of more economically working the bacon business, and eliminating the unnecessary overlapping in working. The directors' report stated that, as was confidently expected, considerable savings in this respect have been effected The price declared for pigs was such as allowed fur a ■supplementary payment of Jd per lb on all pigs sent in by shareholder suppliers between Ist Oct and 14th April and Jd per lb on receipts and 14th April to 14th September, makiug the sum of £12,436 Thus farmer shareholders have obtained the highest average prica for pigs yet recorded.
