THE PUBLIC HALL. The annual meeting of residents of the district held on Wednesday, the 19th inst., for the purpose of electing a Committee of management for the Public Hall wac altogether devoid of the friction that previously characterised similar gatherings. Messrs Dazeley, Lucas, J. Wright, J. McClune, Irwin and Gibson were appointed as the Committee without opposition, the three first-named being re-elected and the others taking the places of Messrs Hastings, Maloney and Geraghty, who did net offer themselves for reelection. Messrs Black, Parkinson and Preston, as Trustees, are members of the Committee ex officio. Mr Dazeley was re-elected chairman of the Committee and Mr Irwin succeeded Mr Geraghty as Hon. Sec Mr J. P. Asher (Pukekohe) was reappointed auditor. The balance sheet was presents! and was considered satisfactory.
On the conclusion of business the hall was cleared for dancing, which was entered into with zest.
The annual school picnic took place last Wednesday week Luncheon was partaken of in thu school grounds and a programme of sports was carried through in Mi A. Landon's paddock, a race f>r Hurried ladies being won by Mrs R Adams. On behalf of the buy scholars Mr W. F. Johns (the master) was presented by Mr A. D >nald with a pipe and Miss Chalmers (assistant teacher) similarly received a box of fancy handkerchiefs from the girls.
