TUAKAU.
Amongst the Tuakau '"boys" who have made the supreme sacrifice is Private Dudley Grant, who was serving with the Australian forces and after being first reported missing was last week reported as having been killed in action, The deceased soldier who was 30 yean of age was born at Tuakau and educated at the local school After leaving school he was emMßed as a grocer's assistant in Tuatau and will be remembered by many as a prominent member of the Tuakau Tennis Club. He subsequently left New Zealand and went to Australia, where he enlisted. The deceased soldier was die son of Mr' John Grant, an old and Respected pioneer farmer of Tuakau who went to live at Eakapuna recently •, Another son, Allan, who enlisted in Auckland, is still with the forces. The Rev. W. Butterworth, Paator of the Tuakau Presbyterian Church, who is absent for a month, is " doing duty " for the Bev. Sanders, Pastor of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Auckland, The latter gentleman is taking a rest at Tuakau and is staying at the Manse. The Harrisville School picnic was held in Mr Reyell's paddock on Wednesday of last week when, in addition to the scholars there was a large attendance of parents and friends/ Various games were indulged in under the supervision of Mr Hill (headmaster) and Miss Bell (assistant teacher). Tea was provided and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was snent.
