CALLANTRY IN BATTLE
Pukekohe Soldier Honoured On Wednesday last Mrs J., Wilson, of Puriri Park, Pukekohe, was officially advised by the Minuter for Defence (the Hon James Allen) that her son, Pte J. H. Wilson, had been awarded the Distinguished Conduct ~ Medal and the Minister added his congratulations on the event. The gallant soldier, on whom the honour has been bestowed, played a prominent part in the advance in Frauce early in Goober and was largely instrumental in capturing s ,mi machine guns and several prisoners, and he was recommended by his commanding officer for distinction. Prior to enlisting with the 20th Reinforcements Pte "Joe" Wilson was engaged in farmiog at Pukekohe. He was born in Pukekohe 25 years ago and was educated «. at the Pukekohe Public school He was a well-known foot- , bailer and was everywhere recognised as a thorough " sport." Hfr brother, Pte " Billy " Wilson, who is also serving at the front, was recently reported as wounded.
