PAPATOETOE ORPHAN HOME ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE The Orphan Home at Papatoetoe last Saturday afternoon was the scene of a very happy gathering on the occasion of the annual Christmas tree. A large number of friend* were present. Mrs Arthur Peel and her friends were again responsibls for the gaily decorated tree laden with delightful toys and other articles. This is the twenty-second year that Mrs Peel has taken the ■part of " Father Christmas" and not only did she remember the present iumates, but also those old boys of the Home now on active service, win will each be sent a parcel containing a pocket writing pad, purse and card from the tree Mr C. J. Tunks. chairman of the Board, in his opening remarks bade those present remember old boys of the home now at the front, especially three who had made the supreme sacrifice. A tjribute was paid to them by all rising for a moment. The presents were then quickly distributed, being received with delight by the children. Then followed the presentation of prizes by the Rev P. S. t mallfield. The Otahuhu orchestra added to the pleasure of the afternoon. Tea was served, and the |visitors wandered through airy dormitories and playrooms, and a garden gay with flowers the well-keptlawnsswarmiog wiih merry children playing with their new toys.
