WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE

Pukekohe Branch A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pukekohe Branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held in the Borough Council Chamber on Wednesday last. Present : Miss Webster (President), Mesdames Stuart, Motion, Hogan, Baxter (secretary), Misses O'Connor, Graham and Usher

Accounts amounting to £4 12s 6d were passed for payment. Letters of acknowledgment and thanks were read from the Auckland League for two parcels of knitted goods and one box of literature A letter was read from Miss Fanny Moore resigning from the Canvassing Committee and Miss Fitness was duly appointed to fill the vacancy. A letter was also read from Miss 8. Glover, Puni, tendering her resignation as a member of the League on account of her approaching de parture from the district. The President reported that 200 Gift Parcels had been received for the month and that the same had been despatched to Auckland. The President also read several letters of acknowledgment from "boys" who had received the parcels and all spoke in high praise of the same. Mrs Stuart, Convenor of the Literature Committee, reported having packed and sent to headquarters two boxes of books and she referred to the advantage in regard to collecting literature the book bius had proved. Correspondence, she added, from the head office had been received asking for more literature and she appealed for support in the matter, also thanking all who had so generously donated literature. Mrs Baxter reported having packed and despatched to the Auckland depot two parcels of knitted goods. She also applied for permission from the executive to purchase wool as required provided it was up to the usual standard and the same was granted. A donation of 5s was received from a soldier's sister for the wool fund.

The following is a list of knitters : Caps : Mrs Crum 6, Mesdames W. Blake and Kimber 4 each, Mesdames Keith, Goldsworthy, J. Wilson and Miss Thorpe 2 each, Mrs Baxter, Misses Stuart, B. Stuart, Virgie Kimber, and Cyril Maxwell 1 each. Sox: Mesdames W. Roulston, F L. Wright (Bombay) 4 pairs each, A Friend, Mesdames K. W. fcJ. Moore and Lenehan 2 pairs each, C. F. Fox (Rama Rama), Dukes, J. Harriman, Meikle (Pollok), Misses Galloway, Webster and Fausett one pair each. Scarves: Virgie Kimber 3, Mrs Clarke (Ohaupo) 2, Mesdames Bartlett, G. Brown, Jas WHsod, J. Harriman, Crum, Misses Golds worthy, C. Stevenson, Kenyon, and Cyril Maxwell 1 each. Mittens: Mrs Cowperwaite (Mt Eden) 6 pairs, Mrs Clarke (Ohaupo) 1 pair, donated 1 pair.
