PATUMAHOE.
SOCIAL AT PATUMAHOE A largely attended social was held in the Patumahoe Hill last Friday evening as a farewell to Constable and Mrs Thornell, the area of the former's official duties having extended from Pukekohe to Patumahoe Mr J. Henry presided and during the course of the proceedings he referred to the general public satisfaction given by tne capable and •actful way in which Constable Thornell had acted as a member of the local police force. In recognition of the same he asked Constable Thornell to accept the gift of a travelling rug, which had been sub sci i bed for by the residents of tbe dii-tiict.
Constable Thornell suitab'7 returned thanks and expressed regret that his promotion meant leaving a locality in which he had made so many Mend*. Mr W. Howard with his usual efficiency carried out the arrangements for the gathering, which whh if a most enjoyable nature.
