BUCKLAND.
WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE The monthly meeting of the Buckland branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held in the Public Hall on November 29th, Mrs H. H. D. Wily presiding. Several letters were read by the secretary re soldiers literature, and providing clothing for French refugees' children. After discussion it was decided to have a book bin made and erected at the post office. The League also decided to do their best to help the French children. On the proposition of the President (Mrs H. H. D. Wily) a vote of sympathy was passed with Mesdames Davy, Neal and Pulman in their late bereavements. The following is a list of the knitted goods received by Mrs McKean for October and November, viz: Sox: Mesdames McEean 18 pairs, Driver 15, Johnson 5, Walker (Pukekohe), King snr. 3, Avery 2, Harper, Barber, E. Bilkey 1 each, Miss Johnston 3. Caps: Mesdames Driver 2, McKean 1, M. King 1, Misses Allan 3, Edie Haire, Gwen Sweet, Pipi Wily and Veda Harris 1 each. Chest protectors: Mrs Harper 2, Miss Allan 1. Mittens: Mrs Newton 1 pair. Muffler: Mrs Newton 1. Subscriptions received for the wool fund for October and November were as follows: Mesdames Jamiespn, 12s 6d; J. Wyhe, Neal and Melville 7s 6d, each; Greenway, Jackson, Barber, Sweet, Driver and Mis 3 Johnston, 5s each; Mrs Carter, 4s 6d; Mesdames Vodauovich and Peters, 4s each ; Mesdames Todd, Milroy, Davy and Haire 2s 6d, each ; Mesdames Bland and Sive 2s each.
