DRURY

I RED CROSS RALLY \ Lately a good deal of attention has been paid to the Red Cross, and to gain funds to help along that good cause, a sale of goods, contributions and entertainment was given recently. As a social gathering it was a great success and also from a financial point of view. The function was opened by Mr J. Flanagan in a neat speech. An artistic and well conceived tableau "Britannia and her Allies " was received with commendatory plaudits, as also the Grand March of the Allies. This portion of the programme was directed by Mrs Fyfe, and the young ladies who took part therein all deserve praise for their efforts. The music provided by Mrs H. Lodge for the tableau and Grand March was excellent and popular. Misses McNaughton and Glasson also contributed musical items which were favourably received. Messrs Gibbes and Pilkington were warmly applauded for a cornet duet, Miss Pilkingron playing the pianoforte accompaniment. Mr Gibbes was heard to advantage in a song for which he was vociferously encored. Guessing competitions, stalls, with lady attendants, and various other methods of raising cash were resorted to, and with good results. A dance followed, Mr Wm. Tooman being the M.C. and Messrs Morgan and Cossey supplying the music.
