MANGERE EOAD BOARD The following members were present at the monthly meeting of the Mangere Road Board held on Monday night last, viz : Messrs M. B. Bark bride (Chairman), 8. W. House, C. E. Goosman, Jas. Montgomerie and W. W. Massey and the Clerk, E. Ashcroft. Before commencing the ordinary business of the meeting the Chairman congratulated Mr House on his success in gaining a seatjon the Manukau County Council and stated that he was sure all the members wished Mr House success in his new position.—Mr House thanked the members and stated that he would do his utmost to serve the interests of the District. A letter was received from Messrs Hendry and Glasgow asking that the roadway be formed leading to their houses on Wallace Estate —lt was decided to give the matter attention later. The Clerk reported that he had written to Messrs J. W. Whyte and Napi Wilsi >n in accordance with the resolution passed by the Board at the previous meeting to the effee that if both pirtie« would sign a written ngi cement to abide bv the Board's decision the Hoard w uld be willing to nego'iatH betwecD thnm. - 'l'he Chairman htat-d that it would be very unwise to cpp->nd money on repairiog this road, while the property boundaries were in.dispute, as in tome places the road was barely half a cbain in width, through the

owners not being able to agree as to the correct road boundary.— The Clerk stated that Mr Wilson had replied agreeing to the suggestion, but so far no reply had been received from Mr Whyte.—The members commented upon the apparent lack of courtesy on Mr Whyte's part, in not acknowledging the communication, and remark was made on the difficulty the Board had to contend with in dealing with this question through Mr Whyte's refusal to assist in settling the trouble It was agreed to accept dedication of the new road through .MrE. Harding's property, the work having been carried out as specified by the Board. The Clerk was instructed to again apply to the Onehunga Borough Council for the £360 promised by them as a contribution towards the construction of the bridge approach at Onehunga. The Foreman reported that he had inspected the metal left on the old railway line between Otahuhu and Papatoetoe stations, but he did not consider it was worth removing as it was of poor quality. It was decided to hold the January meeting 'on the second Monday in the month. Accounts amounting to £177 15a 3d, including £92 10s interest on loans, were passed for payment.
