EAST TAMAKI.
Owing to the absence of Mr Alex. Bell, clerk of the East Tamaki Road Board, who is on a visit to the ISouth Island, there will be no meeting of East Tamaki Road Board this month.
A most enjoyable social evening was held in the Public Hall on Saturday evening, Nov. 17th, when Sergt Grierson and Ptes Guy and Fernleigh, who were up on final leave, were farewelled. There was a crowded gathering and a good supper was partaken of. During the evening Mr Alan McElwain greatly amused the audience with his humorous contributions. Songs were also rendered by Mr R. Absolum. Mr James Ross on behalf of the residents present presented each of the guests with money belts and also with a parcel of knitting from the Ladies' Patriotic Committee. Sergt Grierson, in a neat speech, thanked the residents for their kind wishes and also for the valuable presents. Dancing was kept up till midnight.
