SALE OF WORK

A very successful sale of gifts organised by the girl members of the Sunday School took place in the Public Hall on Saturday, November 3rd. The building was artistically decorated with flags and ferns and presented a very pleasing appearance, much credit being due to the girls for the effective arrangement of the various stalls The proceedings were opened by Rev Jones. The cooking competition wa9 judged by Mesdames Jones, Richardson and Linstrom and the highest number of points for cooking was secured by Mrs Finlay, Mrs Craig being second. The shilling competition was won by Miss Coxheud whose table-centre was awarded .'SR votes in a public ballot All articles in this competition were made from materi tls c .sting less than Is. Miss Una Finlay was second with 'J I votes. Tho stall holders were as follows : Plain si wing, Misses Craig, Le Petit and E. . Finlav ; King's Brigade, Miss Ida Butterworth, assisted by members of the Brigade ; fancy v;">rlr, Misses Phillips and V. Wiirlich ; produe", Misses Frcshney and Finlav; sweets, Misses B. Craig and I) Wiirlich ; flowers, Misses Smith m:d (i. Freshney; afternoon tea, M ■-• Lovell and Misses Coxhead and Lovell ; bran tub.-, Misses Tidil arid 11. Finlay ; post office, Misses Betty Craig and < Hiven Burton; shooting gallery, Messrs R. Craig and Blennerhassoit Messrs Eric I.e I'i lit and A Craig con lucted the competitions in a most able manner. Musical items were contributed bv Mr and Mrs J. Phillips and Miss K Finlay and selections were given on Miss Smith's gramaphono. Mr Burton made a very successful ending to tho evening by holding » Dutch auction of the articles unsold.
