TUAKAU.
A Maori, named Daniel C. McDonald. who early on Thursday morning last was ftrrested in Auckland by Constable Taylor, was brought up at the Pukekohe Police Cuurt later in the day on a charge of having stolen, at Tuakau, the gum of £22 in cash and notes on Wednesday from another Maori named Kaihau, with whom he had been working in Lapwood's flaxmill and with whom he shared a whare. The money, it is alleged, was stolen dining th© night from undor tho owner's pillow. The accused, it appears, subsequent to the theft, walked to Buckland and, then telephoned to Pukekohe for a motor car, in which he rode in state to Auckland and on arrival in the city retained the car until late at night whilst he proceeded to call on various friends He was remanded to appear before the Magistrate at Pukekohe next Thursday.
