Mr C. Clarke, the resperfced proprietor of the Pukekohe Hotel, received advice this morning that his oldest son, Pte. Edward Clarke, of the 2Gth Reinforcements, was wounded in the thigh on October 13th and has been admitted to hospital.

In connection with the forthcoming election of a member to represent Franklin County, Pukekohe Borough and the Waiuku Town District on the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and similarly for the election of a member on the Hoard to represent Manukau County, Otahuhu Borough and Papakura Town 1 )istrict, uncertainty seems to p evail as to a voter's qualifications. It may therefore be stated that in the former case all persons on the electoral roll of the - borough of Pukekohe and on the Waiuku tbctoral roll are quallied to vote but in the case of Friuklin County only ratepayers have a vote although plural voting as in the County eleulions does not take place. In the latter iiKstance, Otahuhu Borough electors, I'apakura Town Hoard ol ctors and Manukau County ratepayers are likewise entitled to rm.nl their votes. Tunkau and Mercer in Franklin County and Manure.va in Manukau County, not being Town Districts exempt from County control, form part of their respective Counties ami only ratepa) crs in those districts are entitled to vote
