ALFRISTON AND BROOKBY

PAPAKURA ROAD BOARD The monthly meeting of the Papakura Road Board was held in the Board's office on Saturday, September' 20th. Present: Messrs E. D. McLennan tchairman), D. A. Reid, J. Trimble, W. T. Hall, and J. Embling, with the Clerk (Mr H, Moody). RANFURLY ROAI> The Clerk was instructed to procure a locality plan in connection with the area under the proposed area loan and to expedite progress as far as possible. ROAD MATTERS A lengthy letter was received received from Mr Pacey, Managing Director of the New Zealand Dairy Association, asking the consideration of the Board in putting Ardmore road into repair lo enable the company to divert the creamery waggon through to the butter factory at Clevedon. It was resolved that the Board should meet to-morrow at Lupton crossing to view the whole of the roads under discussion. Various requests were made by settlers for repairs to roads and the Board agreed if the weather was favourable to attend to all demands. DOG COLLARS Owing to the complaints of stray dogs worrying sheep, the Clerk was instructed to get a price for dog collars with a view of the Board at the next meeting deciding what action shall be taken re registering dogs in the district. chairman's report j The Chairman reported that since | the last meeting he had instructed j Mr G. Thompson to grade the, main Flat road, Alfriston to Papakura, prior to metal being carted thereon and he also expressed his satisfaction as to the good work that had been done, which was endorsed by several members. The Chairman also reported that he had met the Government Inspecting Engineer re passing work on Flat road and that the work was approved and a grant would be soon available. The Chairman's action in both matters was confirmed. MELLSOI' UOAD The Clerk was instructed to get the holes on Mellsop road filled up with earth prior to metal being carted thereon. NOXIOUS WEEDS The Clerk was further instructed to serve final notice on owners to cut, grub and burn gorse amd noxious weeds on roads the Board desired to form and grade. WAR LOAN Owing to the success of the flotation of the Liberty War Loan the Board, after consideration, resolved that the question of taking up Bonds should be deferred. ACCOUNTS Accounts to the amount of £ . r >o fid were passed for payment.
