MERCER
Owing to the flooding of tho bush from which the United Timber Company obtained logs the Company's mill has had to cease working but operations will be recommenced at an early date. Mr A. C. Tribe has been appointed secretary of tho Bartholomew Timber Company at Ngatira and commenced his duties there on Monday of last week. In consequence of his removal from the district ho has sent in his resignation as a member of the Mercer Town Board
Tho next mooting of tho Waikato River Board will b n held on Saturday next. Wednesday, October the 3rd, is the date fixed for the next Magistrate's Court at Meicer. As a result of the recent dry weather the flood water around Mercer is gradually subsiding and the Waikato river is falling to its normal summer level. The sun during tho past few days has had a beneticient effect upon the trees and the new green shoots are already producing a pleasing appearance. This is particularly noticeable on the trees close by tho line where tho flood water is disappearing.
