| At tho election on Wednesday last of a new member to till the seat on j the Tuakau Town Board rendered j necessary by tho resignation of Mr W. G. Graham, Mr W. J. Deeble i securod 70 votes anil Mr James Hendsrson 50, and tho former was accordingly declared elected. A blissful ignorance of his doings was pleaded by a Maori named Rirnu Taupo last Thursday when charged r at the Pukokohe Police Court with j having used obscene language at \ Tuakau on the previous day. Ac--1 cording to Constable Taylor the dej fendant had to bo ejected from a j restaurant and he then made use of I indecent words in the street.
