PUNI.
A SUCCESSFUL ENTERTAINMENT The school children of Puni gave a very successful entertainment in the Puni hall on Friday eveniug, August 31st, in aid of the Red Cross funds A loiter was received from Mr Bickford, Hon Orgauisor for the Socioty in Auckland, apologising for not being able- to be present. The large and enthusiastic audience seemed to appreciate every item, Miss BagnaU's songs, and the dances by Mrs Dukes and the children being particularly well received. The programme began with the singing of the English, French and Russian National Anthems and subsequent contributors in addition to those already mentioned were Miss Sybil Parkinson and Master J. Hooper (songs); Masters Bennie Roberts, Uughan Preston, and Colin Johns (recitations); Miss Thelrna Parkinson (pianoforte solo); and the Misses M. Donull, S. Parkinson, and D. Roberts (Scotch dancing). The children joined in various choruses and every item was most capably executed.
Where all helped so willingly and cheerfully it seems unfair to particularise, but Miss Zinzan, who played all accompaniments, attended most rehearsals and otherwise zealously assisted. Mrs Mack, who took charge of the supper, _ was another active supporter. Messrs Black, Dazeley, and Clarence Dazeley acted as scene shifters and doorkeeper as well as preparing the had. Mrs Gillies kiudly supplied boxes and bags for sweats and Mis Crosbie was busy in charge of the sale of the lollies.
The entertainment was ai ranged by Miss Chalmers, the schoolmistress, and her organising and training powers were testified to by fie success attained.
